Philosophy for Children (P4C) at Harrison Primary

We are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded a silver certificate in recognition of the great P4C work that is taking place in our school! Staff and pupils have worked incredibly hard to embed P4C into our curriculum and this award deservedly recognises this.  We are one of only 8 schools in the country to receive silver, so we are justifiably proud!

SAPERE (the Society for the Advancement of Philosophical Enquiry and Reflection in Education) validated our application to be awarded the silver certificate, which was one year after being awarded the bronze. The school culture and ethos continues to have P4C as a core element of all that we do, encouraging children (and adults) to think critically, caringly, creatively and collaboratively. It helps teachers to build a 'community of enquiry' where participants create and enquire into their own questions, and 'learn how to learn' in the process.

We are currently developing strategies for working more widely with parents and the wider community in the coming academic year.
