Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools in addition to main school funding. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) in the January census and in any of the previous six years to pupils who are known to be 'Looked After' (in care) and to pupils who are known to be adopted from care or have left care under a Special Guardianship Order or Residence Order.  A smaller amount is allocated to children of families in the armed forces (service child premium).

Schools decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. However, schools are accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils in receipt of the grant.
