Job/Person Summary

Harrison Primary School is a large, busy school in the middle of Fareham. Our vision of ‘lifelong learners, open minds’ is embedded in our whole school community resulting in a true partnership striving for excellence.  

 

We are currently looking to appoint a highly effective and knowledgeable practitioner who is looking to gain accreditation as a SENCo. The successful candidate will be required to complete the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) within three years of starting in post.

 

You will have a proven track record of excellence in teaching and be highly effective in adaptation of the curriculum to meet individual pupil's needs.  

 

As SENCo you will demonstrate: 

  • a desire to further develop your leadership skills within our collaborative and supportive team 
  • commitment, innovation and a strong focus on inclusive teaching 
  • a positive and pro-active attitude towards improving outcomes for children with SEND 
  • understanding of how to adapt the curriculum to enrich access to a rich and broad curriculum 
  • expertise in supporting the wider team to be inclusive practitioners 
  • aspiration for all children 
  • excellent communication skills when working in partnership with parents and other stakeholders. 

 

As SENCo you will have the strategic overview of the academic outcomes and emotional development of learners with SEND. You will be responsible for raising educational achievement by leading and coordinating provision for pupils with special educational needs and will develop and oversee the implementation of the schools SEND strategy and policy. 

 

Working closely with the leadership of the school you will contribute to the ongoing success of the school and deepen understanding of excellence in inclusive practice.  

 

You will be expected to keep up to date with national and local policies related to SEND and ensure that the Harrison team is kept informed.

Teaching Assistant

Job/Person Summary

Harrison Primary is a happy, caring school strongly committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.  It is our deeply held belief that every child is entitled to the best education and we are passionate in our commitment to ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to succeed.

 

We are seeking to employ an excellent, experienced practitioner for 15 hours per week on a fixed term basis from February 2023 until 31st August 2023.

 

The successful candidate will be committed to supporting children's learning and have a good understanding of how to support the development of children as confident, independent individuals.

 

The successful candidate will

  • be able to nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils in order to secure high standards for all pupils to be 'lifelong learners, with open minds'.
  • have good maths and English skills (GCSE grade C or above or equivalent)
  • have a working knowledge of the curriculum and ability to break down learning into small steps
  • be able to provide modelling and scaffolding to support the child's engagement
  • be able to implement clear boundaries and routines using positive behaviour management strategies
  • have a calm and positive disposition
  • work as part of a year team under the guidance of the Year Leader and Class Teacher to raise attainment and deliver tailored interventions
  • be able to work independently and have good organisational skills
